How to Get Powers in Hero Legends
Cash, spins, slots, and a buy order that survives bad gambling luck.
Powers are the real progression
In Hero Legends, your account strength is mostly which powers you own, how many slots you unlocked, and whether you can fund the next upgrade without going broke. This guide explains the modern obtain loop - including the spin / gambling-style system covered in the latest update notes - without pretending every roll is fair.
If you are brand new, skim Getting Started first so you do not buy Magic Blast on minute ten.
The three currencies that matter
- Cash from robberies, hero work, and boss rewards (money guide)
- Power slots that decide whether NanoTech or hybrid kits are even legal on your loadout
- Spin budget when the gambling obtain system is active - treat it like optional lottery tickets, not rent money
Old loop vs new loop
Older loop: grind cash to the listed price, buy the power, equip it.
Newer loop: grind cash to feed a spinner / obtain system that can spike you into a strong ability early or brick a session. Shop-priced anchors like NanoTech (~2,000,000 in community showcases) still exist as long-term targets.
Wiki rule: never empty your robbery fund into spins until you can still afford Invisibility / a real combat starter if the roll fails.
Recommended obtain order
Phase 1 - Survive and learn
- Skip Magic Blast and Energy Blast traps
- Buy Invisibility if you rob (Getting Started)
- Or buy a cheap honest fighter (Super Strength / Speed) if you prefer hero street work
- Unlock understanding of M1 / block via Controls and PVP
Phase 2 - Expand options
- Save toward a second meaningful power (Pyro, Acid, Gravity path, Flight, etc.)
- Use limited spins only with surplus cash
- Study showcase kits like Nova, Acid, and Quick Step so you recognize what a lucky roll actually gave you
Phase 3 - Endgame identity
- Plan three slots before NanoTech (NanoTech guide)
- Or commit Gravity / Doom hybrids from best builds
- Re-check best powers after every major patch listed on the Updates Hub
Slot planning before big purchases
| Goal | Slots to unlock first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| NanoTech full | 3 | Consumes all slots |
| Doom + mobility | 2+ | Keeps escape tools |
| Gravity captain | 1-2 | Often team-dependent |
| Invis robber | 1 early | Funds everything else |
Buying NanoTech without slot prep is a common brick. Details: NanoTech.
Boss drops vs shop vs spins
Thragg can roll cash or powers such as Flight / Martial Arts that already exist in the economy (Thragg guide). That means boss RNG is content, not always the fastest unlock path. Sometimes Military Base cash buys the same power sooner.
Anti-tilt rules
- One bad spin does not mean you should script - see Scripts Hub
- Do not redeem Superhero Legends codes here (Codes Hub)
- After a brick, run one clean Bank / Military Base loop before spinning again
- Log what you own so you stop re-buying duplicates on accident

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do you unlock powers in Hero Legends now?
You still grind cash, but a spin / gambling-style obtain system can gate or spice unlocks. Keep robbery income first.
Should I spend all my cash on power spins?
No. Keep a reserve for Invisibility or a real combat power so a brick roll does not wipe your week.
Do I need three slots for NanoTech?
Community advice is to unlock three slots first because NanoTech consumes the whole bar. See NanoTech.
Can Thragg give powers?
Yes - Flight or Martial Arts style rewards appear in guides, but shop grinding can still be faster than boss RNG.
What powers should beginners chase?
Invisibility for robbery starts, then a real damage or control power. Skip Magic Blast. Details in Getting Started.
